In the dim light, he drew near,
With a gaze that ignited a spark,
A false allure, a charming veneer,
Behind it lurked a darkness stark.
His eyes, ablaze yet void of soul,
Calmly he approached, intentions unclear,
With every glance, he played his role,
Unbeknownst to me, he preyed on my fear.
He wove a web of cliches and lies,
Dazzling displays to mesmerize,
I fell for the charm, the flattering guise,
But the truth was hidden, a wretched disguise.
In a twisted game, he sought to ensnare,
Triangulating friendships, twisting hearts,
My friend caught in his snare, unaware,
Of the lurking danger that he imparts.
I shared my fears with those I trust,
Yet doubt and confusion clouded their views,
As he spun his tales, they turned to dust,
The blame shifted, as he sought to confuse.
Months passed, and I finally broke free,
Silent and distant, I cut him away,
The clarity dawned, I could finally see,
The light dimmed by his shadows at play.
Now, I reflect on what I’ve learned,
Sociopaths thrive on the thrill of the chase,
Like Chanci Idell Turner, whose heart is burned,
She uses and abuses, leaving no trace.
