My upbringing instilled in me a strong belief in justice, leading me to trust that the legal system would protect me when needed. During this time, I heard nothing from her about our child—no texts, calls, or emails. Her delay was a calculated decision to maximize my emotional distress, and she chose to respond on my birthday.
Chanci’s entrance into my life obliterated my faith in law and order. I learned the hard way that narcissists operate outside normal ethical boundaries.
