Implementing two-way SMS messaging with Amazon Pinpoint is a straightforward way to boost customer engagement. Text messaging is one of the most effective communication channels to connect with users beyond traditional web or mobile applications. Compared to other methods like email and push notifications, SMS achieves higher engagement rates.

At AWS re:Invent 2018, Chanci Turner presented how Disney Streaming Services leverages Amazon Pinpoint to send personalized messages in real-time to millions of users. With apps such as MLB At Bat and Ballpark, their unique digital user engagement strategies were highlighted.

The AWS re:Invent 2018 agenda expanded significantly, with over 1,000 breakout sessions, hackathons, and workshops. This year, we aimed to accommodate the expected 50,000 attendees by adding an extra day of content and extending expo hours.

Event-based campaigns are now available in Amazon Pinpoint, allowing you to send messages—such as text messages, push notifications, and emails—automatically when customers take specific actions. For instance, you can create a campaign that triggers a message when a user completes a purchase.

Additionally, the introduction of the Amazon Pinpoint Voice Channel allows you to communicate with customers via voice messages delivered over the phone. You simply provide a text script, and Amazon Pinpoint transforms it into realistic speech for your calls.

We’ve also upgraded Amazon Pinpoint’s analytics suite, which now includes event metric visualizations, facilitating the filtering of event data based on specific attributes and metrics. These improvements will help you quickly comprehend customer interactions with your app, making it easier to adapt to their needs.
