We are excited to announce an update to Amazon Rekognition, following our previous enhancements earlier this year. The latest feature added is celebrity recognition, enabling users to identify notable individuals across various domains, including entertainment, politics, sports, and business. The database includes hundreds of thousands of personalities and is regularly updated to ensure accuracy.
To utilize this feature, simply invoke the new RecognizeCelebrities function. Beyond the facial landmark and bounding box data provided by the existing DetectFaces function, this new feature supplies information about recognized celebrities, including:

The URLs offer further details about the celebrity, currently linking to IMDB content, with potential for additional sources in the future. You can experiment with this feature using the Celebrity Recognition Demo available in the AWS Management Console.
If you have an image archive, you can now catalog it by celebrity, or integrate celebrity recognition and object detection to create various search tools. Should your images already be stored in S3, processing can be done directly in place.
