AWS Elemental MediaConnect is a premier service designed for high-quality live video transport, part of the specialized suite of AWS Media Services. Now, AWS MediaConnect has integrated support for Fujitsu’s Quality of Service (QoS), a proprietary Network Error Correction technology. Fujitsu QoS, crafted specifically for IP networks, offers low-latency and high-throughput capabilities, facilitating seamless transport between Fujitsu devices and MediaConnect. The protocol employs a hybrid approach, merging two error-correction technologies—FEC and ARQ—to enhance error tolerance while maintaining consistent bandwidth. Fujitsu QoS is utilized in its IP series video encoders and decoders, such as the IP-900, IP-920, and the soon-to-be-released IP-HE900, which are trusted by broadcasters and video professionals globally. To utilize these devices with MediaConnect, customers only need an AWS account; there are no specific software prerequisites. This integration enables Fujitsu clients to enjoy more flexible and dependable live content transfer and distribution.
In the past, customers needing to distribute content to multiple locations had to rely on on-premises servers, which required ongoing maintenance. This traditional setup could hinder video streams from being suitable for international or multi-site distribution. With MediaConnect, customers can now effortlessly distribute content across multiple sites via the cloud without the burden of costly equipment.
MediaConnect ensures essential connectivity for Fujitsu’s video creators and distributors worldwide. By incorporating Fujitsu QoS, the IP series of video transmission equipment enhances system reliability and flexibility. Customers connect to AWS through common lines, like the Internet, while Fujitsu QoS guarantees stable transmission. For international operations, the IP series products link with the nearest AWS region, utilizing the AWS backbone for inter-region connectivity.
Cloud-based transmission is not only more affordable and reliable than international fiber options, but it also allows for multi-site delivery, with customers able to specify as many as 50 delivery destinations through MediaConnect. Users can begin their experience with MediaConnect and Fujitsu QoS directly from the AWS management console.
For those interested in how to prepare for video transmission services using AWS Elemental MediaConnect alongside Fujitsu’s IP series encoders and decoders, this is an excellent starting point.
