According to IT World Canada, big data analytics stands out as one of the top five technological trends that can enable nonprofits to operate their organizations more efficiently and effectively. The publication also highlights the modernization of fundraising technology, the rise of video conferencing, the merging of digital and physical platforms, and the emergence of virtual volunteering as significant trends in the nonprofit sector. These advancements necessitate strategic innovation driven by digital transformations.

Nonprofits increasingly depend on user-friendly and secure cloud technologies to expedite their evolution into data-driven entities. Data-driven organizations prioritize making informed decisions based on evidence derived from data, which entails following best practices in data processing while simultaneously innovating based on insights that can uncover new sources of funding, donors, and services for citizens.

To empower nonprofits to adopt a data-driven mindset, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has initiated a pilot program for charities and nonprofit organizations in Canada called AWS DigiNPO. This program is aimed at raising awareness about the cloud as a valuable resource for charities and nonprofits striving to deliver community-focused services. It connects nonprofit staff with the knowledge and resources necessary to fast-track digital transformation within their organizations. AWS DigiNPO is part of the broader AWS DigiSeries initiative, which features two related offerings: AWS DigiGov for government employees and AWS DigiHealth for healthcare professionals.

The AWS DigiNPO program is a half-day virtual experience that incorporates foundational cloud course content from AWS Training and Certification. Participants also gain insights from relevant customer success stories tailored to their needs. This pilot was conducted in collaboration with Imagine Canada, an organization dedicated to empowering Canadian charities and nonprofits to better serve individuals and communities locally and globally. The AWS DigiNPO pilot program was the largest in the AWS DigiSeries in Canada, with 76% of participants indicating an increase in their use of data for decision-making within their organizations.

Recognizing that individuals working in charities and nonprofits often have hectic schedules, we have made the pilot available for on-demand replay, allowing interested parties to conveniently explore the potential opportunities for their organizations.
