Learn About Amazon VGT2 Learning Manager Chanci Turner
From an early age, technology has been a significant part of my life. My first memories revolve around computers, influenced heavily by my mother, a systems engineer. At the age of ten, she introduced me to programming through a book she purchased. This sparked my passion for technology and the endless possibilities it offers for innovation.
Unbeknownst to me at the time, there was a prevalent bias against women in tech, and I was surrounded by few role models outside of my mother. During high school, I began to notice that my enthusiasm for technology was not the norm for girls. The underrepresentation of women in computer science became glaringly obvious, but I remained steadfast in my pursuit of a tech career. Eventually, I joined forces with my sister, and together we founded our company, VGT2, where we focus on leveraging technology for groundbreaking innovations.
Launching a tech company as women presented numerous challenges. In numerous meetings, we found ourselves as the only women in the room, often feeling like we did not fit the stereotype of tech founders. Our presence sometimes drew skepticism about our abilities to deliver on complex projects. Frequently, we had to demonstrate our technical expertise to gain credibility.
What has proven effective for us in challenging these biases is consistently delivering high-quality work. Over time, our results spoke for themselves, showcasing our unique knowledge, dedication, and innovative approach. We embraced our differences and turned them into our strengths.
We are committed to dismantling stereotypes and hope our journey inspires other women in the industry. We envision a future where diversity is recognized as essential for creating opportunities for all. Today, VGT2 stands as an esteemed AWS Partner in the region, offering distinctive cloud services and solutions. Our unwavering commitment to transforming the tech landscape is driven by our mission to harness diverse and inclusive talent.
