For many organizations, having sufficient time, budget, and skilled personnel are critical factors for success. Given that these resources are often in limited supply, enhancing access to even one or two can significantly impact a business. Open Solution, a cloud services startup based in Beijing, claims to help companies optimize all three resources for their clients.

Founded in 2017, Open Solution aims to assist both emerging and established businesses in leveraging cloud technology to better understand their data. Traditionally, companies would hire teams of infrastructure engineers, a process that can be both expensive and challenging in today’s competitive talent market. Instead, Co-founder and CEO Jenna Wong believes that Open Solution can take on the responsibility of infrastructure setup and management, allowing businesses to concentrate on their customer relationships.

The inspiration for Open Solution arose from Wong’s previous venture, a fintech startup she launched after earning her computer science degree in France. As the CTO, a significant portion of her role involved establishing the technology framework for the finance-oriented company. Wong discovered that the process required considerable time and financial investment in hardware and IT, prompting her to seek more efficient infrastructure solutions that led her to cloud computing, AWS, and the eventual founding of Open Solution.

The startup has since honed its focus on providing cloud infrastructure support, particularly in the realms of IoT and smart building applications. Wong notes that the rapid decrease in sensor costs has opened up vast opportunities for data collection and analysis to drive optimization. She refers to one of their clients in China, which operates a factory equipped with various machines and sensors.

“For this client, we can import data from the sensors using AWS IoT Greengrass and upload it to their cloud, enabling the owner to conduct analyses effortlessly,” explains Wong. “The machinery and sensors can also run AWS Lambda functions to process the data they gather once it has been analyzed through established machine learning models.”

Currently, most of Open Solution’s clients are located in China, where manufacturing is abundant. However, the startup, supported by a team of 20, has ambitions of expanding into new markets, particularly the United States. This growth strategy has prompted Open Solution to deepen its integration with the AWS ecosystem, recently becoming an official partner in the AWS APN network. Wong states, “We primarily chose to leverage AWS for our clients due to its superior service offerings, and we also recognize its global reach as a tremendous advantage that will facilitate our cross-border growth.”
