The demands of Barracuda’s clientele and their commitment to simplicity fostered their collaboration with AWS. “Our goal is to simplify the entire lifecycle for our customers—making it easy to purchase, install, deploy, manage, and use,” stated Liam Johnson, VP of Partnerships at Barracuda. As they noted that many customers were transitioning their infrastructure to AWS, they sought to strengthen their relationship with the platform. “Barracuda has a significant overlap of customers on AWS. This partnership became increasingly crucial to ensure that we meet our customers where they are,” Johnson explained.
A pivotal factor for Barracuda in partnering with AWS was the shared responsibility model for security. “Our aligned philosophy around security was a key motivator for us. Under the AWS Shared Responsibility Model, AWS delivers a globally secure infrastructure and associated services, complementing the advanced security features we provide,” Johnson continued.
Barracuda Solutions on AWS
Barracuda offers various solutions on AWS through the AWS Marketplace and a Bring Your Own License (BYOL) option. Since November 2013, they have launched several solutions on AWS, including:
- Barracuda Web Application Firewall: This solution offers robust application layer security, enabling customers to securely transition their applications to the AWS Cloud.
- Barracuda NG Firewall: Providing next-generation firewall capabilities and over 1Gbps site-to-site remote access, this firewall delivers advanced threat detection, application-layer security, VPN, and secure remote access between customer networks and the AWS cloud platform.
- Barracuda Spam Firewall: As one of the first dedicated anti-spam solutions in the AWS Marketplace, this firewall offers a comprehensive security feature set for organizations migrating their email systems to AWS, available on-demand or via an annual pricing model.
- Barracuda Load Balancer ADC: This solution allows organizations to securely run applications across public and private cloud infrastructures, offloading compute-intensive SSL transactions and offering optimization features for faster application delivery.
- Barracuda SignNow: This tool significantly reduces document turnaround time, enabling legal signatures from various devices in seconds. SignNow allows organizations to control document workflows and integrates easily with other systems.
The Benefits of Working with AWS
Johnson remarked, “The speed at which we deployed on AWS was astonishing. We quickly expanded from a single product to eight different offerings, with plans for further growth.” Collaborating with AWS, especially through the AWS Marketplace, “provides us with enhanced flexibility in deployment options, reflecting our commitment to offering customers freedom and choice in how they deploy,” he added.
The Barracuda team also envisions ongoing collaboration with APN Consulting Partners. “We understand the requirements and deployment scenarios of our customers on AWS. We know how to work with APN Consulting Partners to help them build businesses around our security solutions. Barracuda exclusively sells through channel partners, and we are excited to grow our Partner Program with firms that are expanding their operations around AWS Cloud services.”
Looking Ahead
Barracuda intends to deepen its partnership with AWS and broaden its presence on the platform. “Working with the AWS team has been seamless, spanning from concept and design to implementation and customer commitment fulfillment.
