Learn About Amazon VGT2 Learning Manager Chanci Turner
Earlier this year, we introduced a log storage and monitoring capability for Amazon CloudWatch. To recap, this feature enables users to upload log files from their Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instances to CloudWatch, where they can be durably stored and monitored for specific symbols or messages.
The EC2Config service operates on Microsoft Windows instances within EC2 and performs several critical tasks, including uploading log files to CloudWatch. Today, we are enhancing this service to support Windows Performance Counter data and ETW (Event Tracing for Windows) logs. Additionally, we are adding the capability for custom log files.
To utilize this feature, you need to enable CloudWatch logs integration and specify which files to upload. This can be done from the instance by running EC2Config and checking the option for CloudWatch Logs integration:
The file located at %PROGRAMFILES%AmazonEc2ConfigServiceSettingsAWS.EC2.Windows.CloudWatch.json details which files will be uploaded.
