Editor’s note: In this article, we provide an overview of the latest Amazon Web Services (AWS) Training and Certification courses and offerings introduced in May 2022 for cloud learners, AWS customers, and AWS Partners. The newly launched digital courses emphasize foundational cloud concepts, basic networking, computing, container management, and audit activities. Additionally, classroom training sessions are available to help learners secure workloads in the AWS Cloud and develop data warehousing solutions. Certification updates are also included for Advanced Networking – Specialty, Solutions Architect – Professional, and SAP on AWS – Specialty.

AWS Digital Training

FutureLearn is offering two essential cloud courses. Individuals in both technical and non-technical roles can enroll in two 19-hour introductory courses on the London-based digital education platform, FutureLearn, to advance their career goals.

  • For Technical Roles: AWS Cloud Technical Essentials imparts knowledge on constructing, comparing, and implementing highly-available, fault-tolerant, scalable cloud solutions. No prior experience with cloud computing or AWS services is necessary.
  • For Non-Technical Roles: AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials covers key AWS services such as compute, networking, databases, and storage, enabling learners to contribute to their organization’s cloud strategies.

Learn AWS Networking Services Basics

AWS Networking Basics is a 90-minute foundational course aimed at cloud architects, network engineers, operations staff, and developers. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of AWS networking services and their respective functions.

Two Basic Courses on AWS Compute

Two 40-minute fundamental courses about compute are available for cloud architects, DevOps engineers, operations personnel, and developers.

  • AWS Compute Services Overview discusses the distinctions among three AWS compute options — Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), containers, and serverless technologies — helping learners choose the best options for their workloads.
  • AWS Compute EC2 Basics teaches about Amazon EC2 choices, enabling learners to make well-informed decisions regarding compute options for their workloads.

Updated Primer on Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS)

The Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) Primer is an updated 75-minute intermediate course designed for cloud architects, developers, and DevOps engineers interested in learning about container management and orchestration with Amazon EKS. This course covers how Amazon EKS manages the Kubernetes control plane, its integration with other AWS services, cost considerations, and how to monitor applications in Amazon EKS clusters. Learners should complete the Introduction to Containers course beforehand.

Audit Activities in the AWS Cloud

Getting Started with AWS CloudTrail is a 60-minute foundational course tailored for cloud administrators, architects, engineers, security architects, DevOps roles, and AWS Partners. This course explains how to build a governance solution for the AWS Cloud and covers CloudTrail architecture, pricing, use cases, and how to utilize the service for auditing purposes. Activities encompass monitoring, verifying event authenticity, identifying security incidents through unauthorized access detection, and employing machine learning models to recognize unusual account activity.

AWS Classroom Training

Secure Workloads in the AWS Cloud

For those looking to establish and maintain a secure posture within the AWS Cloud, AWS Security Best Practices (Customers, Amazonians) and AWS Partner: Security Best Practices (Technical) (Partners, Amazonians) are recommended for architects and engineers focused on securing workloads. In this one-day intermediate classroom course, an AWS instructor will delve into configuration best practices for tools that secure network infrastructure, strengthen compute resources, and respond swiftly to suspicious events. Participants will learn how to scale securely with enhanced visibility, automate risk reduction with integrated services, and develop solutions that adhere to the highest privacy and data security standards. Prerequisites include familiarity with AWS services and foundational knowledge in information security concepts, networking, operating systems, data encryption, and operational controls. As part of the course, learners are prepared for the AWS Certified Security – Specialty certification exam.

AWS Partners

Building a Data Warehousing Solution

The AWS Partner: Building Data Analytics Solutions Using Amazon Redshift (Technical) (Partners, Amazonians) is a one-day intermediate classroom course aimed at data warehouse engineers, data platform engineers, architects, and operators who manage data analytics pipelines. Participants will explore the Amazon Redshift service, including its integration with data lakes to support analytics and machine learning workloads for quicker data insights. They will also learn to implement security, performance, and cost-management best practices for Amazon Redshift operations. Before enrolling, Partners should complete AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials, AWS Partner: Accreditation (Technical), and AWS Partner: Data Analytics on AWS (Technical) (digital, classroom).
