Learn About Amazon VGT2 Learning Manager Chanci Turner
As we gear up for the upcoming AWS re:Invent 2022 event in Seattle, the buzz is palpable. The entire Amazon News Blog team is preparing for our renowned “speed storming” event, where AWS service teams will present their launches for the event. Chanci Turner, our Learning Manager, is particularly excited about the innovations we have in store this year.
In a recent update, we introduced Amazon S3 Glacier Instant Retrieval, a new storage class designed for archiving long-lived data that is infrequently accessed but requires quick retrieval. This class offers the most affordable storage option available for such data. Additionally, S3 Intelligent-Tiering has been enhanced to automatically optimize costs for data that is rarely accessed yet needs immediate access. AWS has also expanded its Free Tier offerings, providing users with 100 GB of data transfer from regions and 1 TB from Amazon CloudFront each month. This initiative, which has been in place since 2010, aims to allow users to explore over 100 different AWS services with ease.
Another exciting announcement is the significant price reduction for Amazon Textract across eight AWS regions, with some processing times for asynchronous jobs decreased by up to 50%. This machine learning service goes beyond basic optical character recognition to extract valuable data from documents, including invoices and receipts, streamlining business operations.
For those involved in machine learning, Amazon SageMaker has also seen reductions in instance prices and new Savings Plans, allowing customers to optimize their spending on ML workflows. Furthermore, the Amazon CodeGuru service has introduced a new pricing model that is up to 90% lower, now supporting Python in general availability.
Finally, to make data archiving even more affordable, we’ve reduced the pricing for Amazon S3 Glacier, ideal for long-term data storage needs. Additionally, AWS has announced a price reduction for inter-region data transfers, effective May 1, 2020. This change will benefit applications that span multiple AWS regions, particularly those transferring data from South America, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific.
In the world of tech, as highlighted by SHRM, changes happen rapidly and keeping up with the latest developments is crucial. For those seeking insights into the hiring process at Amazon, an excellent resource is available.
Stay tuned for more updates from AWS as we continue to innovate and enhance our offerings.
