As the AWS re:Invent season approaches, excitement fills the air in Las Vegas! You’ve marked your calendars, booked your hotels, and secured your flights. Now, you’re probably looking for some direction on the generative AI and machine learning (ML) sessions to attend at this twelfth installment of re:Invent. This year, generative AI is taking center stage like never before. Alongside several thrilling announcements during keynotes, most sessions in our track will delve into generative AI in various forms, allowing us to aptly name our track “Generative AI and ML.” In this post, we’ll outline how the track is structured and highlight a few sessions we think you’ll find beneficial. While our focus is on generative AI, many other tracks feature relevant sessions, so be sure to use the “Generative AI” tag while browsing the session catalog to discover more.

Our technical sessions are categorized into five main areas. First, we’ll kick off with foundational sessions that explore different aspects of Amazon Bedrock—a fully managed generative AI service launched earlier this year. These will provide insights into building blocks for your generative AI applications. Next, we’ll cover common use cases and applications of generative AI, where you can also uncover innovative techniques. Following that, several sessions will cater to ML practitioners who build, deploy, and operationalize both traditional and generative AI models. This year, we’re introducing LLMOps in addition to MLOps! Continuing from last year, we’ll also offer sessions on responsible AI practices. With the power of advanced transformer-based models comes the responsibility to use them correctly. Don’t miss the session on the newly launched PartyRock, which is an educational tool designed for easy access to learning through experimentation in a foundation model playground powered by Amazon Bedrock. Finally, we’ll have engaging sessions dedicated to AWS DeepRacer, which are always a crowd favorite!

Generative AI will be central to the AWS Village this year. Engage with various demos showcasing new applications, including a competition that challenges participants to pilot a drone around an obstacle course using generative AI technology. Speak with AWS experts from 14 different industries and explore specific generative AI use cases, featuring demos from sectors such as advertising, aerospace, manufacturing, and more. Additionally, the Emerging Tech Zone within the Expo will highlight innovative startups selected for the AWS Generative AI Accelerator and the NVIDIA Inception 100 programs.

If you’re new to re:Invent, here’s a quick rundown of the types of sessions you can attend:

  • Keynotes – Participate either in person or virtually to hear about exciting announcements.
  • Innovation Talks – Discover the latest advancements in cloud technology from AWS leaders and how these innovations can propel your business forward. These sessions will be livestreamed, recorded, and made available on YouTube.
  • Breakout Sessions – These 60-minute sessions are designed for broader appeal, delivered to larger audiences, and will be recorded for on-demand viewing after re:Invent.
  • Chalk Talks – Enjoy 60 minutes of interactive content aimed at smaller audiences. This format encourages discussion, offering a prime opportunity for questions and opinions.
  • Workshops – In these hands-on learning experiences, you’ll build a solution to a problem over two hours and gain insight into the resulting infrastructure and cross-service interaction. Don’t forget to bring your laptop!
  • Builders’ Sessions – These highly interactive 60-minute mini-workshops are held in small groups of fewer than 10 attendees, catering to both beginners and those interested in specialized topics.
  • NEW! Code Talks – A brand-new session type for re:Invent 2023, Code Talks resemble our popular Chalk Talk format but focus on live coding and code samples. These 60-minute sessions emphasize the actual code involved in building solutions, encouraging attendee participation and questions.

If you’ve already secured your spot in any sessions, excellent! If not, we always reserve a few spots for walk-ins, so plan to arrive early.
