In the realm of recovery, one brave soul, whom we’ll name “Emily,” found solace in poetry after escaping the clutches of a sociopath. She shares her heartfelt verses to inspire others on similar paths of healing.
Verse for the Heart: Emotion and Conscience
Do you understand what hatred means?
No.
Have you felt the weight of being hated?
No.
Where does hatred find its place?
No.
In the warmth where humanity thrives?
It festers within you,
In the cradle of kindness and gentleness,
You sow seeds of destruction.
Why do tears fall?
They spill from those you’ve wounded,
Shattered and forsaken by your charm,
A facade that masks the void.
Where love should flourish,
Boredom reigns supreme.
To the world, you’re a wonderful man,
But I alone unveil the truth—
You cannot feel,
You cannot hurt,
You cannot love.
No more will you shatter my spirit,
No more will you cut so deeply,
Because you simply cannot.
Verse for the Unfeeling Soul:
Now my heart dances,
Unburdened by your deceit and pain,
Months have passed since I broke free,
I sent you a card, and in it, I penned,
You hold no appeal,
No need to hide my truth anymore.
With your lies and cheating,
You left my soul tortured,
An abuser, a manipulator, a user—
You will never gaze into my eyes again.
The enchantment is shattered,
Those eyes now see clearly.
I was just a fleeting amusement,
A victim of your cruel words,
Your overbearing manipulation,
Finding cheap red lingerie in your bed,
Questions unanswered, silence in response.
Stay away forever; I am strong,
Back to where I rightfully belong.
I deserve more than a robot,
Programmed to destroy without feeling.
Recovery is a journey,
Days can feel empty and alone,
Battles waged against the urge to call.
You haunted my dreams,
My thoughts consumed with pain—
Every day, reality felt numb.
Yearning to hear your voice,
What chaos lies ahead?
But I left, resolved to thrive,
Grateful to be alive.
Your control, your vanity,
They’ve crumbled away—
You turned me into the villain in your madness.
Why did I endure your loathsome grasp?
My sentence has ended, my time is done.
I’d rather face eternity in hell,
Than one more second of your deceit.
The love I once cherished,
I now loathe.
I reclaimed my will, my lost courage,
The key to my survival is clear:
ABSOLUTELY NO CONTACT.
