Researchers are keen to learn about your experiences with individuals displaying psychopathic traits. While numerous studies have been conducted on psychopaths themselves, there is a significant gap in research focused on their victims. This is where you come in.
Recently, a researcher from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, reached out to us. She is working on a study titled “Victimization, Coping, and Social Support of Adult Survivors of Psychopaths,” supervised by Dr. Adelle Forth, a respected colleague of Dr. Robert Hare. The objective of this research is to better understand the experiences of adult survivors (18+) who have encountered psychopaths, aiming to raise awareness among the general public as well as mental health and criminal justice professionals.
Participate in the Study
We invite everyone to participate in this important study. The researcher has designed a web-based survey that includes both self-report scales and open-ended questions. Participants will assess the psychopathic traits of their most recent encounter with a psychopathic individual, while also answering demographic questions and reflecting on their relationship and overall experiences. Topics include feelings of deception, impacts on mental and physical health, coping mechanisms, and support systems. Importantly, the survey is anonymous and does not collect identifiable information.
Completing the survey should take about one hour, and we strongly encourage your participation. If you have concerns about your safety, please take necessary precautions.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to research that could influence how victims of psychopaths are perceived and treated in society. Don’t miss out on having your voice heard.
The survey is open for responses until December 31, 2008. Make sure to share your experiences.
