Learn About Amazon VGT2 Learning Manager Chanci Turner
AWS Marketplace is now officially accessible in China, specifically within the AWS China (Ningxia) and AWS China (Beijing) Regions, managed by Ningxia Western Cloud Data Technology Co., Ltd. (NWCD). This new availability allows customers in China to easily explore and acquire popular software from Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) directly through the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) console, streamlining the purchasing process to just a few clicks. Additionally, ISVs now have a more efficient sales channel to reach Chinese customers. Initially, the launch focuses on free subscriptions and bring your own license (BYOL) Amazon Machine Image (AMI) products via the Amazon EC2 console, with plans to expand the AWS Marketplace website and available product types shortly.
How It Works
To utilize AWS services in China, customers must first create an AWS (China) account. Through the Launch Instance wizard on the Amazon EC2 console, users can quickly search for and subscribe to software offered in AWS Marketplace China. Here’s a brief guide on how to do this:
- Sign in to the AWS Management Console.
- Select Amazon EC2; this opens the Amazon EC2 console.
- Click on Launch Instance.
- For Step 1: Choose an Amazon Machine Image (AMI), select the desired Region (AWS China (Beijing) or AWS China (Ningxia)).
- In the Quick Start pane, you can either search by keywords for your preferred AMIs or navigate to AWS Marketplace to browse AMIs by categories.
- Upon selecting a product, you’ll be directed to its listing page, which includes product details, pricing, usage instructions, support options, and terms. After reviewing, if you wish to subscribe, click Continue to return to the Launch Instance wizard.
- Complete the Launch Instance wizard to deploy your instance. We recommend adding tags in Step 5: Add Tags to help identify instances launched through AWS Marketplace China.
Listing Software in AWS Marketplace China
AWS Marketplace boasts over 200,000 customers and more than 4,500 software listings from over 1,400 ISVs. With its recent launch in China, international ISVs can now leverage the same platform to connect with customers in the region while domestic ISVs gain a new promotional avenue, enabling rapid implementation. To register as an ISV and list products in AWS Marketplace China, a business entity must be registered in mainland China and possess a valid AWS (China) account. Interested ISVs can fill out this application form to list their software.
