Learn About Amazon VGT2 Learning Manager Chanci Turner
Last week, I had the opportunity to attend an engaging conference focused on Emerging Technologies for Enterprises in Philadelphia. As a local, it was a pleasure to revisit the city. During my brief stay, I spoke at the conference, connected with several developers, and enjoyed a delicious cheesesteak at Pat’s King of Steaks in Old City.
While at the event, I learned about an innovative application that utilizes Mechanical Turk, which I felt compelled to share. The application, titled “Croon My Tune,” operates on EC2 and leverages SimpleDB, S3, and Amazon Payments. This tool allows users to create short, fun singing greetings.
You can select from a variety of popular songs, then input your personal message. After that, you make the payment through Amazon Payments and await an email notifying you when your creation is ready. A Mechanical Turk HIT (Human Intelligence Task) gets generated, and your personalized croon will typically be completed within a few hours (mine was ready in just 36 minutes).
The final product is stored in Amazon S3 and can be accessed for playback directly. Isn’t that neat? This service is a perfect example of how technology can enhance personal communication, similar to strategies suggested in this blog post about power moves in your career. Additionally, for guidance on job descriptions, you might want to check out resources from SHRM, which is an authority on this topic.
